Elevated Cholesterol Levels and Atherogenic Risk:Drinking unfiltered coffee (such as French press or boiled coffee) is strongly atherogenic and can increase total cholesterol levels. Perhaps there may never be an end to the stories inspired by the Đông Sơn drum, one of Vietnam’s most iconic cultural symbols. Yet, for many diners visiting Viet80s, the first thing that catches the eye is the large star engraved at the center of the drum’s surface — the most striking and sacred motif of the Đông Sơn era. The central star, often with 8 to 14 rays, represents the sun, the supreme force of nature. Ancient Vietnamese revered the sun as the source of life — providing them with energy, light, and warmth. But the symbol also held a deeper meaning: it served as a cosmic calendar, helping people determine the seasons and cycles of the year. This lunar-solar calendar traces its roots back to the Bách Việt civilization, deeply connected to the agricultural life of the southern rice-growing regions. The even numbers of rays, birds, deer, and boats carved into the drum’s design reflect the early people’s ability to count, measure, and observe time. Among them, the 12 rays stand out — symbolizing the 12 months of the year, twelve cycles of sunshine and rain that have nurtured Vietnam’s fertile land, the birthplace of some of the finest rice in the world. At Viet80s, we channel the essence of heaven and earth into every grain of rice, every strand of noodle, and every bowl of phở. Viet80s cuisine is the soul of the village rice fields, the warmth of family dinners, and the richness of Vietnamese culture expressed through seemingly simple yet deeply meaningful dishes. 🌿 Hành trình trải nghiệm văn hoá — A Cultural ExperienceKhi ghé Viet80s, bạn không chỉ thưởng thức một bữa ăn. Bạn đang chạm vào di sản sống của nền văn minh lúa nước, nơi lịch sử, truyền thống và hương vị hội tụ dưới cùng một ngôi sao rực rỡ. When you visit Viet80s, you’re not just enjoying a meal. You’re experiencing the living legacy of Vietnamese civilization, where history, tradition, and flavor come together under the same radiant star. |

The traditional Vietnamese family diningAug 11, 2024The culinary traditions of each country are distinct, with Vietnam's food culture being especially rich in unique characteristics. These traditions are a reflection of the broader cultural identity, encompassing the arts, cuisine, and social customs. Vietnamese food culture is a harmonious blend of culinary practices, social rituals, and family values. Discussing Vietnamese dining culture requires patience and reflection, akin to slowly savoring a cup of tea. Let's explore this culture together. Vietnamese Family MealsIn Vietnam, the main meal of the day is often a significant affair, typically enjoyed with family members. The Vietnamese place great importance on familial ties, and the family meal is seen as a reflection of a household's cultural sophistication and values. Meals in Vietnam are predominantly centered around rice, which features in nearly every meal, so much so that people might ask, "Have you eaten rice yet?" instead of simply asking if you've had a meal. Vietnamese meals are prepared with a variety of dishes to complement the rice, often made from vegetables. Historically, meat was a luxury, reserved for special occasions. The Culture of the Vietnamese Family MealWhen dining, Vietnamese people traditionally serve all dishes at once, contrasting with the Western style of serving courses sequentially. Sharing dishes from the same plate symbolizes unity and the virtues of sharing and humility. The dining table is typically round, representing completeness, and family members often wait for everyone to be present before beginning the meal. This setting provides an opportunity for lighthearted conversations, strengthening family bonds. Multigenerational MealsVietnamese dining also reflects the multigenerational structure of traditional families, often consisting of three or four generations living under one roof. In these settings, respect for elders and care for the younger members are paramount, embodied in the saying "Respect the elders, care for the younger." Etiquette in Vietnamese DiningDining in Vietnam is guided by a set of rules that reflect the person's character and upbringing. Younger members typically serve elders first, and meals are often served in a specific order, with women usually serving the rice due to their deftness. Proper chopstick use is also taught from a young age, emphasizing the importance of careful and respectful eating. Each aspect of the meal, from the seating arrangement to the manner of serving, contributes to the cultural narrative of respecting tradition and maintaining harmony within the family. These customs are deeply embedded in the Vietnamese ethos of honoring one's roots and ancestors. To fully understand Vietnamese dining culture, one must delve into detailed studies or specialized literature that explores the regional variations and historical context of these practices. Experience True Vietnamese Dining in NottinghamFor those in Nottingham seeking an authentic Vietnamese dining experience, Viet80s offers a taste of tradition with a modern twist. This family-friendly restaurant serves up beloved Vietnamese dishes like Phở, Cơm rang (fried rice), and đồ xào (stir-fried dishes), all made using family recipes passed down through generations. Viet80s is ideal for both families and groups, providing a warm, welcoming environment that mirrors the communal and inclusive spirit of traditional Vietnamese dining. Whether you're familiar with Vietnamese cuisine or trying it for the first time, Viet80s promises an experience that's both delicious and culturally enriching.
