What to Eat on a Cold Autumn Night in Nottingham? 🍂

Oct 14, 2025

There’s something magical about autumn nights in Nottingham. The air turns crisp, leaves glow in golden brown, and the city streets grow quieter under the soft light of the street lamps. It’s the kind of night that makes you want to wrap yourself in something warm — not just a coat, but a warm meal that hugs the soul.

🥢 When the air gets cold, the bowl must be hot

In Vietnam, autumn evenings are best enjoyed with a steaming bowl of noodle soup. Whether it’s Phở, Bún Bò, or Bún Gà, the first spoonful of hot broth warms your chest, and the rising steam brings comfort like home. It’s simple, soulful, and perfect for cold weather.

Just imagine — chopsticks in hand, a spoon of hot broth, fresh herbs, and tender meat… a little chili oil, a squeeze of lime. That first slurp? A hug in liquid form.

🍜 Hot noodle soups for chilly nights

  • Phở Bò – rich, slow-simmered beef broth with silky rice noodles.
  • Bún Măng Vịt – thick & creamy duck bamboo noodle soup, aromatic with mushrooms and herbs.
  • Bún Bò Huế – spicy, bold, and full of character, for those who love a fiery night.

🔥 If you crave something sizzling...

Not in the mood for soup? Cold nights also call for stir-fried dishes — fresh ingredients tossed in a hot wok, fragrant with garlic, lemongrass, and chili.

  • Bò lúc lắc (Shaking beef): juicy beef cubes stir-fried until caramelized.
  • Mì xào: wok-fried noodles with vegetables and meat or tofu.
  • Cơm rang: Vietnamese fried rice, crispy on the outside, soft inside, best enjoyed with a little chili fish sauce.

The sizzle of the wok, the aroma of warm spices, the way the food comes out piping hot — it’s exactly what a cold autumn night needs.

🏮 And where to find that warmth? — Viet80s.

Nottingham has its fair share of cozy corners, but Viet80s is where warmth lives in every dish.

We bring authentic Vietnamese flavors to the heart of the city — from steaming noodle soups to sizzling stir-fried dishes, made with care, just like home. Our cozy space, the aroma of herbs, and the soft chatter inside make it a perfect spot to escape the cold outside.

✨ Whether you’re walking through the city after work or catching up with friends, let a bowl of hot noodle soup or a sizzling plate warm your autumn night.
